Sonora is an ideal location for mountain biking as it has beautiful tours through diverse ecosystems ranging from coniferous forests to desert landscapes, not to forget its coasts, beaches, trails, rural roads, cross natural reserves and deep glens, being a hard place to find elsewhere.
Both mountain and road bikers can surround themselves with a huge and exhilarating variety of sites.
The growing number of travelers do not want to be just spectators, as they like to live with the environment, living a new adventure and there is no better way to do this that on a bicycle.
Today, mountain biking has become a sport of explosive growth not only practiced by elite athletes, but now extends to all family members.
Apart from the benefits to health that mountain biking brings, it is exciting (not in vain that it is categorized within the so – called extreme sports), it is versatile and is the ideal means for ecotourism, rural tourism and adventure.
Within the City of Hermosillo, there are 2 classic tracks for cycling enthusiasts road. The first is located in the hills of Bachoco and has existed for 13 years. It has courses taught by cyclists ranging from the simple to fairly technical. The second track located in La Jolla neighborhood, was recently created and has served as headquarters of a national race thanks to its complicated design and technical level.
Vuelta al Dique 10 is a track that is close to Ciudad Obregon that starts on a water dike and ascends and descends gradually, with constant additions to the track that generate new risks and opportunities for adventure seekers.
Outside the city, we find the “Caridad” track within the hunting ranch of the same name considered one of the most attractive for the beauty of its geography characteristic.
Inside “Pintada” Canyon, we find the track of the same name on the road to Guaymas, which in addition to a fun and beautiful course, offers a particularly attractive trip, since this canyon was the natural home of the Seri tribe and is filled with paintings that the tourist will admire.
To complete the course, the State of Sonora has a wide range of mountain systems constituting an ideal place to visit among, including Cerro Pico Guacamayas, Sierra Los Ajos, San José, La Charola, San Luis, La Mariquita, Hachita Hueca, La Madera, Aconchi, Mazatán, El Pinacate and Sierra libre.

Although this sport is relatively young in our state, it already has gained a passionate following and become a tradition of its own.
The Tremo Challenge
epic ride which is done in two days, passing through populations that include Seguro, Rancho Viejo, Pueblo de Álamos and Santa Rosalía de Ures and involve spending a night in the highest part of the beautiful Sierra de Mazatán where lakes are surrounded by oaks and belloteros.
The journey is 220 kilometers long and can be accomplished in a vehicle.
It is an adventure and an opportunity to see wonderful places we never thought existed so close to the city.
The voyage is organized by the Tremos group, which is the same that originated it in 1998 and has been active in organizing such events since then.
is a night endurance race, which lasts for 12 continuous hours and is to travel a short pre-set route on the track of La Joya, which is considered one of the origins of international racing.
Such well known personalities as Ziranda Madrigal, Armando Zacarias, Tinker Juarez, Todd Wells, Jason Tullous, Dara Marks and Caroline Labarre, have participated in this events with other great mountain bikers.
This event is spectacular. It begins at 7 pm on a Saturday and ends at 7 am on Sunday. The bikes are equipped with special lighting systems to run at the same speeds even during downhills.
The Mountain Rally challenge
is between 60 and 70 kilometers of mountain terrain which are traveled in one day. This is considered an extremely exhausting challenge, both for runners and for the logistics coordinators.
Convivencia Ciclista Rio Sonora / MTB
Route, is a race of mountain bikers, home of the Rio Sonora, natural beauty, unique gastronomy and family sports.
Concentrating on Banámichi, with a distance of over 35 km the first day of competition and another 30 kilometer family-tour of the towns of the Río Sonora, which host more than 700 participants and their families.
“Vuelta Sonora Arizona”
represents a great opportunity to promote the sport in Mexico and the United States and to promote familiarity of the main cities of the two states.
Organized for the first time from February 22-27, 2005, thanks to the support of the Government of Sonora, the cities along the way and companies and institutions committed to development of youth who practice this sport, it is an event worthy of admiration and has attracted participants of dozens of cyclists of our country and the United States.

Mountain Biking in San Carlos, Sonora
The natural conditions of San Carlos and the surrounding area have attracted the attention of experts and fans of this sport, not only for the variety of routes offered, but also for the magnificence of the route along the majestic Sea of Cortes.

El Soldado track: 7.6 kilometers of trails formed by hills, ravines and valleys.
Visita al Potrero: A dirt road access which is 11kilometers and another road which is 8km along trails, desert, mountains and oases.
Los Anegados: easy to cross and rarely visited paths; wildlife in sight.
San José de Guaymas: The path to this old mission is illustrative and comforting.
Cerro del Vigia: Strength and good equipment are helpful, but not critical.
El Faro de Guaymas: 10 kilometer walk, mandatory for all visitors.
